I have wandered as a child In a place full of strangers Empty stares from people that pass me by I’ve struggled to live my life In the chaos of the Red District night Selling gum and surviving Just existing but not living I was cold and hungry But my heart aches inside Longing for an answer Has my God abandoned me? What is my dream Amidst this tragedy What is my hope? Amidst my destiny Those thoughts have puzzled my mind As I continue to exist and survive Along the alleys of the Red District That became a home of mine. Beaten and abused And committed petty crimes Having gone through a rough life It did not matter anymore Should I die or continue to hang on In this endless existence of mine Please show me a sign Give me strength and hope What is my dream Amidst this tragedy What is my hope? Amidst my destiny Songs of love and praise gave me joy Sweet sorrows of my past Growing up and abandoned When I was just a little boy. You have protected me all the while And hushed me to sleep as I cry. As I continued my despair I’ve met a few that truly cared As I sang before a crowd of many I only had one to sing to For you my Lord were there all along You never left me but kept me strong!
