Mama's side - Lolo and Lola lived in a barrio in Baluga Talevera Nueva Ecija. Lolo was a farmer. The barrio at that time until the late 70s didn't have any electricity or running water. There was a "poso" or water pump just outside the kitchen. They used charcoal for cooking. They had chickens, pigs and carabaos. I remember Lolo's dogs, Jumper and Pogi. They both eat voraciously with scraps of some leftover fish, meat and rice mixed with water.

Daddy's side - We called our grandparents Nanay and Tatay. Tatay was diabetic and got blind by the disease. They lived in Balic Balic Manila. I was very young when he died in the mid 60s. Nanay passed away shortly after this. I remember Nanay feeding Tatay his meal one evening when we visited them in Balic Balic. I also remember Nanay coming to San Andres by herself for lunch and she always had a big native "bayong" (tote bag).
